A Little Bit About Web Hosting Packages Where
the Domain Name is Included
Several web hosts operating today offer free domain name
registration with hosting package. That sounds like a pretty
good deal, right? Maybe, maybe not. In the past we have gone for one
of these deals only to be very disappointed in the end because
we do not have control of the domain registration. Why is this a
problem? Well one of our sites got busier than we had anticipated.
It happens. Not big deal. The problem began when our site was shut
down by the hosting company for using too much of the server
resources.
We could not resolve the issue so we ended up shutting it down
and moving it to another host. Problem is though, the domain name is
registered by this company and after repeated email attempts by us
with no response we are hostage to this. Funny the same company
would reply to our queries about why our site was disabled but not
answer us at all about the domain name. So now we cannot point the
domain name at our new hosting servers, so essentially the site is
down until the domain is released. |
